Today at WEngineer’s Flood Fighters Academy, students tackled the real-world challenges of flooding. We explored the devastating effects on homes and infrastructure, diving into examples like the 2018 Kerala floods and Hurricane Harvey.
The students learned about innovative engineering solutions, such as amphibious vehicles, before taking on the challenge of building their own flood-proof cars! Using materials like plastic bottles and straws, they tested their designs to see if they could withstand simulated flooding. It was an exciting day of creativity and teamwork, with valuable lessons in disaster preparation and engineering design.
