WEngineer Storm Riders Final Recap

After nine amazing sessions, the WEngineer Storm Riders Academy has come to an extraordinary end.

Throughout the course of the past four weeks, students gained a deeper understanding of the world around them while engaging in fun and informative activities, such as building spaghetti towers and learning about complex concepts like artificial intelligence.

In our first week, students learned about structural integrity, allowing them to explore how kilometer-tall skyscrapers can withstand hurricane-force winds and how bridges can sustain enormous amounts of weight. Students then learned about flight and the forces impacting an object while in flight. They were able to apply these basic physics concepts to our cars and sleds sessions as well, for their knowledge of air resistance, friction, and gravitational potential energy provided them with the tools to build a variety of speedy vehicles. Students also learned to value the environment by delving deep into environmental engineering, which included learning about renewable sources of energy and the importance of efficiency. The WEngineer team closed out the academy with an exciting shamrock race that tested the student’s knowledge, as well as a bottle rocket launch that illustrated the impact of aerodynamics on flying objects.

We are extremely proud of all the students who participated in the WEngineer DMS academy and we hope to see everyone again in future academies!
